Twin Currents
Two red-and-white fish turn toward one another above the heel. Their fins open in opposite directions, leaving a quiet channel of skin between them. Twin Currents is a small ankle piece that finds movement through spacing, fine lines and restrained colour rather than a dense background.

Two forms moving toward the centre
The upper fish curves downward while the lower fish rises to meet it. Their heads approach the open centre without touching, creating a pause between the two bodies. That gap keeps the pair readable as separate forms and gives the eye a simple route through the design.
Soft red marks run through the bodies and fins, while fine darker lines pick out selected edges. Small dark eyes provide two precise focal points. The colour does not fill every area evenly; lighter sections remain visible inside the fish, echoing the open skin around them and keeping the composition airy.
A vertical arrangement above the heel
The placement is shown with the heel and lower leg visible, making the relationship between tattoo and body clear. One fish sits higher and slightly to one side, while the other balances it below. Their extended fins lengthen the pair without turning it into a solid column.
This offset arrangement follows the narrow ankle area more naturally than a wide mirrored image would. The curved bodies add motion, but the surrounding open skin prevents that motion from becoming crowded. From a normal viewing distance, the pair reads first; closer inspection reveals the finer fin lines and soft changes in red.
Start with the relationship between your subjects
For your own paired design, consider how the two forms should relate. They might face each other, travel in the same direction or create a looser circular movement. Choose the relationship before adding decorative elements, because that decision establishes the flow of the whole piece.
Send the exact ankle position, left or right side, an approximate size in centimetres and a clear placement photo that includes the heel and lower leg. Add references for the subject and the colour or line treatment you prefer. Twin Currents can show the lightness or paired movement you like without becoming a template to copy exactly.
Questions before your enquiry
Can I choose a specific fish or another pair of subjects?
Yes. Send clear references for the fish, animal or motif you have in mind. Its shape, the direction the pair faces and the space between the forms can then be planned around your chosen ankle position.
Can a paired design use different colours?
A different colour direction can be discussed. Share references and identify whether you like a restrained accent or a fuller colour treatment.
Bring your idea into the conversation
Send the subject, a few reference images, your preferred placement, an approximate size in centimetres and the dates you have in mind. Start with those details so the studio can discuss the next step with you.
